While some people prefer to work in a group setting, many find it easier to work with a Trained Specialist one-on-one. This will allow you privacy in discussing your emotional pain with a trained professional, who has used the same tools they are offering you to deal with the heartbreak that has impacted their life! Program length: 7 sessions

This grief recovery support group will help you grieve and complete relationships that have ended or changed. It allows you to have fond memories not turn painful and helps you retake a happy and productive place in your own life. In addition, you regain the ability to begin new relationships, rather than attempting to replace or avoid past relationships. Program length: 8 sessions

This program (1-on-1 or group) provides instruction, information and tools to equip you with guidelines to help children develop a lifelong healthy response to loss. Program length: 4 sessions

The Grief Recovery Method is an Evidence Based Program

Research conducted by Kent State University has shown that The Grief Recovery Method® approach to helping grievers deal with the pain of emotional loss in any relationship is “Evidence Based” and effective. It is also the only Grief Support Program to have received this distinction of being evidence based!

What can I expect during sessions?

Each recovery program is facilitated by a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. All programs are action-based and involve reading and writing assignments. You will be welcomed into a confidential, non-judgmental space where you’ll be expected to share the emotional truth of your story as it happened to you. You will learn about all types of loss and you will choose what loss you want to focus upon.

Is there an age requirement?

Though designed for adults, TemperedFit’s resident Certified Grief Recovery Specialist is authorized to guide teens through the programs. If you have a mature 16 or 17 year-old who would benefit from grief recovery, we can help.

What’s the difference between 1-on-1 and group programs?

Group: Work with a Specialist in a group setting, hear the Specialist’s story as well as the stories of others and get support from the group through the later weeks of the program
1-on-1: Work privately with a Specialist and get direct support, utilizing the same proven materials as the group programs

What else should I know?

While you may come with a specific loss in mind, your Specialist, Dr. Marlena Butler, will lead you through the process of looking at all of the emotional losses that have touched you throughout your life, so that you can be focused on the one that has impacted you to the greatest degree.
